What's Happening at Agile

We had a great time completing out most recent Pilates Trapeze course. Agile is one of the few clinics in the area that utilizes Pilates training in physical therapy treatment.  All of our Physical Therapist are trained in Pilates and have varying levels of Pilates certifications. We also have an in house Pilates studio for continued wellness after your physical therapy is complete.

September is World Alzheimer’s Month, an international campaign to raise dementia awareness and challenge stigma. Each year, Alzheimer associations from around the world unite to organize advocacy and information provision events, as well as Memory Walks and fundraising days. The impact of this campaign is growing, but the stigmatization and misinformation that surrounds dementia remains a global issue. This September is our time for action, when the global dementia family unites to call for and demand change. World Alzheimer’s Month is coordinated by Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI), the umbrella organisation of Alzheimer associations around the world. Join the campaign!

Visit www.worldalzmonth.org to see how you can get involved.

Should I be exercising if I have back pain?

According to a review article in The Spine Journal, the answer is... YES!

  • The review states that exercise is safe for individuals with back pain because it does not increase the risk of future back injuries or work absence for all cases whether acute, subacute or chronic.

  • There is substantial evidence that supports the use of exercise as a therapeutic tool to improve back flexibility as well as strength.

  • Most studies supported the fact that exercise improves global pain ratings post exercise program intervention.

  • Each individual case is different so it is important to consult with your doctor about your unique symptoms or come see us at Agile Physical Therapy for a fitness consultation.
